I don't get why people are complaining. This is a great idea, reminds me of when ALL the chests were free (on that note - why did they leave the ice imps outside of Marhans when they removed the chests ?)..
Got some nice stuff, some that I'll salvage for the mods and other bits that are just merchant fodder. Seeing as I have never bought anything off of another player since the release of Prophecies (nonexistant trade system) I doubt that I really care what it will do to people's prices.

I think the chests have been heavily nerfed already. They only seem to spit out Req 13 items or Inspiration based items. Also, it lately I've only been able to get the collector skinned or other common skinned items too. I've had similar experiences during the double gold chest weekends too. I think ANet has some "anti-farm" type code that prevents the dropping of some of the rarer skins from one source, because once a farm spot (whether it is a chest area or creature) is becoming popular, the drops seem to automatically become worse.

Well heres an update. 8 full chars finished chests 3 partial only upto sunspear santuary area, and im up to 900k+. Gotta love these chest. Yeap i see nothing wrong with them

People who are worried about prices dropping? Pfft. Like others have said, hardly anything you get from the chests is worth much anyway; salvage the good mod, merch the rest mostly. Some people are only concerned about "what does this mean for ME?" not "what fun can be had by EVERYONE?"

But yeah, 4 chars getting all the chests and my bank account went up by 100k. I'm not complaining. (6 more to go!

It also gives a really great easy answer to those players who ask, "What's a good way to make money? I'm broke!"
